Happier Every Chapter

We are 13 and 11-yr old sisters; Kirsten & Aiyven Mbawa of Mbawa Books Ltd. Our passion and mission is to promote literacy by sharing our love for reading and writing. In March 2019, we started children and middle-grade book reviews on YouTube, Facebook etc. That same year, we entered a BBC 500 words writing contest. Even though we weren’t successful, we built on our entries to form our debut middle-grade novels; Sagas of Anya (Kirsten) & Land of the Nurogons (Aiyven) which were self-published in April 2020 with the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Following on from the success of our book reviews and book publications, in November 2020, we launched Happier Every Chapter, a superbly curated book subscription box for 8-14 year olds. This was in the hope of creating an even more engaged community of readers whilst promoting literacy and diversity within the middle-grade space.

Our boxes come with 2 books (including a diverse read), 2 short stories (written by us), activity sheets, exclusive author goodies, bookish treats, lifestyle items and access to author interviews, competitions and more. Join us on this journey as we explore the amazing world of possibilities found in books.
